My LuLaRoe Direct Sales Journey
I began my direct sales journey with LuLaRoe in November of 2014 until August 2017. It was an amazing journey as a LuLaRoe retailer. During my almost 3 years I learned so much about myself as a business woman and entrepreneur. Through my LuLaRoe business I met amazing women and their families. I even took a trip to California to get valuable training and learn more about making my business work for me and my family. I gained confidence in myself and my retail abilities and was able to provide amazing income for my family!
So why switch?
As my business and confidence grew there were some things about the LuLaRoe business model that I felt were no longer a good match form my business. The one thing that kept coming up was the inability to order the specific prints and patterns that I wanted to carry in my Boutique. I also wanted to be able to place custom orders for my ladies. I had gained many loyal customers over the years and many of them voiced frustration that the prints that I was receiving in my orders, well…lets just say they weren’t exactly what my ladies were looking for in their wardrobe.
So I began looking at other options for my Barn Life Boutique. I knew that I wanted to stay with a Direct Sales company because of the support and wealth of options it provided. When I came across Agnes & Dora I knew that I had found exactly what I was looking for!
Reasons I Made the Switch to Agnes and Dora
I will never…ever…ever receive a box of inventory from Agnes & Dora where I don’t know what it contains. It’s that simple. As a LuLaRoe retailer I was able to chose my styles and sizes, but the prints were always a surprise. As you all know not all surprises are good! My back-office with Agnes & Dora shows me Exactly what styles are available in Exactly what size and which print. So no more Dorito Tunic’s in my shop!! I can purchase items that coordinate and create beautiful wardrobe collections for my customers!!
As a fashion retailer it has been amazingly freeing to have control over my inventory down to the smallest detail! I am the BOSS!! I control the direction that the Barn Life Boutique will take at every turn!
The minimum order for Agnes & Dora is $100 vs. the 33 pieces required by LuLaRoe (which made a minimum order atlas $495) $100 that’s it!! This low minimum order requirement combined with being able to order specific prints and styles frees me up to place custom orders for my customers any time I need to!
I have been so pleased with every Agnes & Dora piece that I have purchased! Each item arrives beautifully packaged with high quality boutique style tags and tissue paper. The fabrics are amazingly soft and comfortable. The Modal fabric that is being used in many of our styles is fade-resistant, shrink-resistant, and pill-resistant. Which means it is going to look just as beautiful after the 20th wash as it did the day you bought it!
In the 7 months since I made the switch to Agnes & Dora I have been so impressed with the integrity of the company and their support for their Independent Representatives. Agnes & Dora is committed to sending us only the highest quality products so that we can pass that on to our customers. Twice during this time it has come to the companies attention that the product that they sent out had minor defects and may have been less than the high quality we all have come to count on ( i.e.. seam showing from under collar). While those products were still en-route to our businesses, Agnes & Dora issued a company wide recall, sent each Representative a prepaid postage label, and will be refunding each of us for those purchases. Talk about standing behind your product and supporting your retailers!!
All of my customers have been thrilled to find out that the Agnes & Dora clothing line has consistent sizing across the entire line. No longer do they need to keep a note card in their pocket books in order to know what size to purchase. Our sizing is consistently cut for each style. So now guessing ‘Does this small really fit like a small or like a 2XL?’

At the point when I was researching other Direct Sales clothing companies LuLaRoe had just launched the denim jacket..that was the newest style that had hit the product line. Otherwise the product line had been very stagnant since joining the company. Agnes & Dora stood out because of the tremendous variety of styles that were available and the NEW Seasonal styles that were always being launched through out the year. The one that had me hooked…the TANK TOP!! I love it in the summer and its perfect for layering all year long!! We also have long sleeve styles, not just one….but too many to count! I absolutely love the variety that Agnes & Dora offers year round. The designers stay ahead of the current trends to make sure that our product line is always in trend.

Customer cost was a big factor in my decision. The pricing on our line is comparable to LuLaRoe and other Direct sales companies, with many of our items being cheaper. For example A& D Leggings are $22 and LLR are $25. A&D Maxi is $28 and LLR is $42. Our dusters are $48 and the LLR Sarah is $72.

What Agnes & Dora Stands For
The name “Agnes & Dora” is taken from a book that Buffy’s grandmother wrote in the 1960’s, titled “The Secret Power of Femininity”. It was written to empower women and teach how to recognize the two sides of a woman; the fun loving, playful side (DORA) vs. the best friend, confidant side (AGNES). This company is all about finding ways to build and empower women. Helping women to find balance and confidence in how they look, feel, work, and how they play! They truly live this mantra in the daily workings of the company. Agnes & Dora is more than just a clothing line. They encourage their customers and their Independent Representatives to live out that balance in their everyday lives.
Company size and growth was a huge part of my decision making process. When I began with LuLaRoe their were under 5,000 reps nationwide. In a matter of 18 months the company had onboard well over 100,000 representatives with little plan for how the company would keep up with the growth. This created many issues that ultimately helped me make my decision to leave LuLaRoe.
So when looking at a new company I wanted to make sure that not only was I getting in on the ground floor, but that the company had a plan for planned growth that would allow them to keep up with the market demands and meet the needs of their Representatives. When I signed up there were just over 3,000 reps..I’m the only one in my area..from December to March of 2017 they even halted on boarding because they had experienced such a period of growth that they wanted to make sure that they could continue to meet the needs of their CURRENT Reps, ensure product quality, and keep inventory at adequate levels to meet the needs of the growth.
